Haven't had a pick myself, hell got my first full proof this year but dollar for dollar i find that full proof bottle to be great. At $50 it's well worth it imo. Definitely will by a pick when i come across one. Cheers!

This one also always drank hot for me. Maybe it does need a touch of water. I’ve actually started to add 2-3 drops of water to most of my whiskey JUST to see if it gets better or worse. I think that most of us bourbon drinkers tend to write off adding water all together, but I’m finding that some whiskies really do benefit from a hint of water.

I have yet to find one on the shelf, but I live in IA….the distribution of whiskey is mediocre at best.

I haven’t had a bad 1792 Fp store pick! The regular FP isnt bad but the store picks are incredibly better

Single barrel will vary a lot. I have 3 single barrels of the same buffalo trace and they are the best 90 proof bottles that I have Try to do regular release please

Wild. Slb review just dropped and they call it thick and no finish. This review... thin with long finish. Spicy and wood driven... less sweet and fruit... that I agree with. This is a wood bomb. I get finish for days and good viscosity... honestly, I think most of the people who dont love it are wanting a liquid candy bar... if you want complex wood notes... this is a top tier batch. If you want something that tastes like 8 different types of sugar... maybe not your batch.

Love the whole 1792 lineup. Haven't had SW, PF, or HR, but the others are incredible. And when you can get a store pick, they generally are even better. I have a SB store pick that is out of this world for a 98 proofer.

We did a blind of 4 1792 Full Proof picks and after the video I said, I don’t need to ever buy another. Well, then a 1792 FP crushed all the competition in my bottle share. Phenomenal.

I brought this video up right now, because I'm having Jim Beam Black Aged 7 year at this moment. And It is really good. And I'm going to buy a back up bottle tomorrow. It is that good !!!

I got a 9 year pick last year that is ridiculously good, noticeably darker than a standard FP too.

Nice, now you have to try the Total Wine Rickhouse Reserve 120pr which blew me away and made w 1792 distillate. Clearwauda, you say? : )

Your excited ,You buy a bottle and try to share and get “meh so and so said that’s just ok” then you hype up another and try to shoot it down because you don’t like the price. I think the bourbon Chanel’s should go so bourbon can survive and people can “ ATTEMPT “ to think for themselves. You may LOVE anchovies and another may HATE THEM ; so why care what you say about bourbon.🤷‍♂️

A friend had the shelfer that I tried and liked. Came across a store pick and WOW, just phenomenal, it drinks more like 115-118 proof to me.

Barton actually has one of my favorite overall profiles. I love it. You'll find it in some other brands that source from Barton, like Calumet Farms and Sam Houston, IIRC.

I bought a 1792 full proof store pick from bevy's in Colorado in fall 2023. It was phenomenal. Then I went out and bought a store pick from 4 other stores. They were pretty bad, and the total wine store pick in denver from fall 2023 was the absolute worst. Tasted like dusty wet cardboard. I tried it multiple times over like 3 weeks, letting it rest in the glass for up to an hour each time, hoping it would get better. For now, I say 1792 is 95% garbage and 5% mind-blowing on store picks.

Picked up the 1792 FP for $45 in PA. Looking forward to opening and comparing to the SB. Cheers

I’ve only had a few…. They drank super hot, but they were good. I keep them for a bourbon to add ice to in the summer time.

My single barrel store pick was disjointed and too hot at first, but after only a few days it smoothed out and lengthened with a lot of great high proof flavors. Glad you liked yours. Cheers!

1792 Full Proof legit may be the best overall bourbon readily available on shelves. (It’s readily available for me, anyway). It has an awesome price point, a beautiful bottle, and the flavor profile tastes like a blend of all the different legacy distilleries into one bottle, and is so well balanced, like you said. It’s Goldilocks. Does it blow me away like a C923? No, but I don’t think it needs to.

Nice review Jason. If I can find a 1792 Store Pick I grab them and typically love them. The Single Barrel prolly my fav with Full, Proof coming in second.

I’ve been saying this! 1792 Full Proof is very comparable to Stagg and may beat it in a blind for a lot of folks. Gotta stop chasing hype especially when stores charge over SRP . & Just like Stagg, it varies from batch to batch and barrel to barrel. Can’t make a generalization from one experience

I’m with you. I haven’t liked any 1792 because the alcohol burn messes with the flavor and the experience. In the last few months, I’ve picked up two store picks that I really liked.

I wish the stores would low you to taste their barrel picks. Some of them do but the vast majority don't.

Finally pulled the trigger on this bottle recently and just popped it open after your review! For the money really good! Definitely get the brown sugar and banana note. I really enjoy that banana note!

Don’t be swayed by the crowd. You were right the first time - 1792 Full Proof tastes too young, harsh and gasoliney, even for the relatively low price. I would like to try the single barrel and the wheat though. I’ve just never seen them anywhere (didn’t even know they had a wheat version until this video)..

I like my regular 1792 FP but I also happen to know the store that picked that bottle and they have some PHENOMENAL store picks. Can’t wait to crack my EHT SiB they picked recently

I bought 3 bottles when Jim Murray rated it as his world whiskey of the year 2020..still have one left. Bought a store pick last year and a new standard release this year and I'd say both have more alcohol punch then the 2020 batch but they all have good aspects. Benchmark full proof is a good comparison but I've preferred the 1792s blind

I bought a 1792 barrel pick for $60 and really didn’t like it at all I stubbornly drank 1/2 and eventually threw it out I think I will get a sample before buying again but you have convinced me to try again I’m doing my own taste test right now between Russells 10 year, Blantons and Heaven he’ll bib 10 year And it’s a close call between the Blantons and Heaven Hill and I do like Blantons very much and this has the sweet in the spice going on but by hair I’m crowning heaven, hill, bottle, and bond year as the winner
